NHMS Announces 2024 Advocacy Awards
On Friday, November 15, 2024, the New Hampshire Medical Society (NHMS) recognized four distinguished physicians for their outstanding leadership and advocacy:
The Honorable Gary Woods, MD and Nick Perencevich, MD, both retired surgeons, were presented with one of the New Hampshire Medical Society's most esteemed awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes distinguished physician members who have made substantial contributions throughout their career to the mission and ideals of the New Hampshire Medical Society. In addition to their significant achievements, the recipient exemplifies the integrity, courage, and leadership that the Society and the field of medicine aspire to uphold.
Jeffrey Fetter, MD, a psychiatrist and Chief Medical Officer at New Hampshire Hospital, was presented with the Advocate of the Year Award. This award honors a distinguished physician who demonstrates exceptional commitment to advocating for the Society's legislative and policy priorities. Presented by the New Hampshire Medical Society, this recognition celebrates the recipient's dedication to advancing the medical profession, advocating on behalf of patients and our communities, for the betterment of public health. Even in the most unfathomable circumstances, and in the immediate aftermath of the New Hampshire Hospital Shooting last November, Dr. Fetter is a leader and an unwavering advocate for the prevention of gun violence in New Hampshire.
Amy Lee, DO, an OB/GYN resident physician, was presented with the Young Physician of the Year Award. The Young Physician of the Year Award recognizes a distinguished physician in the early stages of their career who has made significant contributions to their colleagues, the New Hampshire Medical Society, and public health. Through their service, leadership, and advocacy, the recipient exemplifies the promise and potential of the medical profession.
