Dr. Maria Boylan, president of the New Hampshire Medical Society, released the following statement following last Friday's NH Supreme Court ruling that affirmed the lower court's decision on Jane Doe v. Manchester School District:

As a partner to the NH ACLU in bringing forward the amicus brief in support of the Manchester School District last spring, the NHMS is pleased to see the Supreme Court affirm the lower court’s ruling in the Jane Doe v. Manchester School District case.

Supporting measures and, in some cases, combating measures that are not in the best interest of the mental health, well-being, and safety of all children should be a top priority for us all - physicians, parents, community members, and teachers alike.

We are thankful to have stood alongside many of our trusted medical society partners such as the American Medical Association, the NH Pediatric Society, the NH Academy of Family Physicians, and the NH Psychiatric Society in signing onto this brief.

A special thank you to the members of the NHMS leadership who championed the Society's position and involvement in this amicus brief - Alan Hartford, MD, Marie Ramas, MD, Travis Harker, MD, and Eric Loo, MD.
