External Peer Review - Maine Medical Association (MMA)

MMA facilitates an External Peer Review program connecting physicians in like-specialties with others to do off-site external peer reviews. If a physician is interested in doing this type of work, all they have to do is send a copy of their CV which will be sent to the ordering facility for consideration. If they are selected, they agree to review charts using MMA evaluation forms and, from those sheets, prepare a report.

Currently one of the larger practices in Maine has requested out-of-state physicians to perform a couple of off-site reviews for them. One Infectious Disease physician and 3 or 4 OBGYN physicians are needed. The charts will be mailed to the physician(s) by the ordering facility and MMA will send him or her the instructions, review forms, etc.  MMA will pay the physician(s) $150 per hour for review of the records and reports. This is an increase from the usual $100/hour due to the need to branch out further for reviewers.

This link provides more information about the External Peer Review Program.

CV's should be sent to Dianna M. Poulin or fax: 207.622.3332.

Questions may be directed to either Dianna (phone: 207.480.4194) or Gordon Smith, MMA's EVP (phone: 207.480.4197).

Passionate, caring physicians wanted!  - near Concord, NH

Looking for one or more general practice physicians to join us in building the practice of your dreams. I am currently operating a small consulting and advocacy practice but want to offer more. Many of our patients have been unable to find the medical home they long for. Help us give it to them.

You: General practitioner frustrated by the drudgery of the hamster wheel and longing to love medicine again. (Or maybe just trying to keep your toes in the medical field while balancing the demands of a young family?)

Us: Somewhat irreverent, patient-loving Preventive Medicine physician with background in Emergency Medicine and an eager RN with a heart of gold trying to save the world out of a sun-filled office near Concord.

If this sounds interesting, let’s talk. I am eager to find a like-minded partner or two. Tell me what hours you want to work and what procedures and services you want to provide. Part-time is okay! I will make sure you have the space, equipment, supplies, and support to do it. I am committed to building a practice that promotes health and well-being for both patients and providers.
